What's The Bottom line on Ghostbusters?

Ghostbusters (1984)

Starring: Bill Murray (Groundhog Day), Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers), Sigourney Weaver (Avatar), Rick Moranis (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids) and Harold Kamis (Groundhog Day)

Firstly, before I start blogging about this film. Happy 30th Anniversary to Ghostbusters! Check out the 30th Anniversary website and check out some of the awesome artwork for the first Ghostbusters; http://www.ghostbusters30th.com/

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film
I must of been around 6/7 when I saw this film. And, I believe I heard 'Ghostbusters' at a party and I asked someone who sings this. And, at 6/7 the parent said it was a film. So, I decided to watch it. Simple as that really. I knew nothing about the film, what is was about, who was in it. At age of 6/7 I don't really care about the actors name as long it's good am there.
After I watched the film
If you haven't watched this film yet, PLEASE DO. It's been out for 30 years so I know it's easy to get. It has comedy, it has action, it has people that have no idea what they are doing! Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd (whom is also the writer of the Ghostbusters) and Harold Kamis are the Ghostbusters. They bounce of each other, they are witty, they are comical and even in the most serious fight scenes Bill Murray always has a joke there! It's just BRILLIANT! The acting is exciting, the special effects are something I would be expecting to watch in the cinemas now.
Did Ghostbusters do any good after the first film?
WELL, considering there's a sequel to this movie. They were thinking of a third Ghostbusters because Bill Murray has teased one for a long time. There has been cartoon TV series of the film and video games alongside this as well. Plus, short films like Ghostbusters VS Freddy (Freddy Krugear from Nightmare On Elm Street) and The Real Ghostbusters. The short films does not have any of these cast members in the movies. However, there has been comic books, music, books and more that has just come from this movie alone. So, did Ghostbusters do any good after the first film? Heck yeah! All of the cast got a higher status doing the film because it was nominated for a Golden Globe, Acadamey Award, Grammy Awards and Hugo Awards. But won Young Artists Award, Golden Screen, BAFTA Film Award for best song original for the song 'Ghostbusters'. Hey! Least I had good award winning music taste when I was 6!
So, what's the bottom line?
Ghostbusters is a family sci-fi classic, a must watch. The bottom line? It's a great childhood film for me and a must watch for your film knowledge and experience to a cult classic.
Tips if watching the film?
Even if you're not in the mood for watching a comedy/sci-fi adventure, watch it anyway because it will make you laugh regardless of the mood your in.
My rankings
Users on IMDB rated it 7.8, I rate it a solid 10 out of 10 for being one of my childhood films and also just being an awesome to be brought up with.

WHAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE ON HOME ALONE: THE HOLIDAY HEIST

Home Alone: The Holiday Heist (2012)

Starring: Christian Martyn (Gangster), Eddie Steeples (My Name Is Earl) and Jodelle Ferland (The Cabin in the Woods)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film
Macaulay Culkin Picture Joe Pesci PictureDaniel Stern Picture

My immediate first impression was, I hope Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern (above) come back and do Kevin when he has kids of his own and they try to kidnap them. But, then I looked into the cast.... I was just like oh it's going to be like the past one where he lived in that futuristic house. But, what can they do more of? I saw the title "holiday heist" .... am not being funny but from what I remember of the Home Alone films they were always at Christmas. Home Alone is an amazing childhood family film because it's ALWAYS on at Christmas. So, I was still going in open minded and seeing what on Earth are they going to do. But, Macaulay Culkin, Jor Pesci and Daniel Stern but the standards really high for any other villain to get involved.

After I watched the film
What....did I.....just watch? This isn't really Home Alone as I remember it. It was really really lame. I mean, the pranks that Kevin did in Home Alone 1 and 2 was just imaginative and creative. This one, is very very dumb down. And, I hate using that word 'dumb' because it just shows no effort. This film is one of the worst Home Alone films I have ever seen...EVER! The villains are just too dumb down and you can tell they are really really acting it. But, the middle villain in the image is Malcolm McDowell and he is a brilliant actor. From the cast, Malcolm McDowell has a huge film experience in IMDB people know him from Clockwork Orange. But, watching this I had to think WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!?!. I didn't mention him in the cast list, because honestly he deserves better then this film. The pranks, the reason why the burglars want to go in the house is just silly! It's like the goonies style but really lame. And, I mean LAME. I will never ever see this film again and I will never recommend it to anyone because of how badly it is. IMDB users rated it a 4.1 and I rated a 1. A 1! And, that's when I think there's just one thing that made the film and I was just sad I couldn't give it a 0. The acting was amateur, the pranks was far to basic, the script was very poorly written and the main kid 'Kevin' I didn't see the facial reactions like the old Kevin's nor the imagination that the past ones had.

How much would you change?
All of it. My past suggestion would of been an amazing childhood film. See the original Kevin having kids and seeing the older burglars coming out of prison and wanting to kidnap Kevin's kids. This could of gone so many ways! The kids and Kevin plotting, kids plotting without Kevin and making similar pranks that there Dad would of told them. The kids and dad don't get on, so to prove they can handle responsibility capture Kevin's old foes. That's my IDEAL Home Alone if they do another one.
So, what's the bottom line
THIS FILM SHOULD NEVER EVER BEEN MADE. Don't touch something that needs tons of remakes. I know re-casting is difficult. And, I was fine with the past films but THIS FILM was burned and buried in my heart after the first prank on the baddies.
Tips if watching the film?
If you EVER have the displeasure of wanting to watch this film with family members just go sleep. Not even joking.

My rankings: Already said, 1 out of 10. Poorly written, bad Kevin, bad burglars just bad in general not even funny or comical in my opinion of the standard past Home Alone films have made.

Cuban Fury(2014)

Starring Taylor Nick Frost (Shaun of the Dead), Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides), Chris O'Dowd (Bridesmaids) and Rashida Jones (I Love You, Man)

First Impressions Before Seeing Cuban Fury
I was incredibly excited, because it's a film with Nick Frost in whom I think is a brilliant actor. I looked at the cast there is Ian McShane whom always gives a wonderful performance. I knew it was something about salsa dancing and considering it was a comedy I thought it would be Nick Frost wanting to dance. I didn't really know this film was coming out, being at university for three years my film knowledge has lacked. But, am back and I went to see this and....brace yourself because I have something to say about this!

After the film

That was different. I mean the acting was abit bland, the storyline itself got a bit boring for me personally. I felt like it was just a watch able film. Something you could lay back on the sofa and just watch. Nothing really exciting and it actually hurts me saying this considering the cast in this movie I have seen done better in other movies. I would have to say that I wouldn't recommend this film to anyone. Ian McShane played an okay character. Personally, I felt that the whole 'salsa' dance and Nick Frost's character needed a huge push to get to the level of a watch able film. As well as, I felt that Rashida Jones's character definitely needed something else into the element. If you like you're simple movies, minimal dance, some comedy moments then go right ahead. I felt this wasn't really a comedy, I didn't really laugh in the film. It was more an awkward laugh like "oh should I really laugh at this?". Cuban Fury on IMDB rated it a 6.2 and am gonna be honest I think that's because of Nick Frost in a film without Simon Pegg. However, you do see Simon Pegg very briefly in the film for like a second. Plus, I did feel like the characters wasn't just plain but not realistic. I mean, come on you got Nick Frost once a brilliant salsa guy and now...yeah... and then you have Ian McShane's character who is his teacher and an alcoholic. But, then this slightly annoyed me Rashida Jone's character was suppose to be American fair enough but she played the dumb American slightly. But, Chris O' Dowd character fumed me a lot. It''s rated 15 and that's mainly because of his character being so crude and sex drive. I haven't mentioned any spoilers if you do some research like myself you know his character within the film.

Could it be better?
YES YES YES, this could be so much better. The script really needed some thought it was just too basic I know people like those "oh I don't have to think" but I felt like this was spoon fed to me. I didn't find the comedy funny, and I should know am a clown and a stand up! It's just strange to see this film and I just didn't laugh. I just think it's because the script lacked something. I dunno maybe a third contender or random character like Nick Frost's mum in the film as Ian McShane dancer. I dunno. Needed some more comedy elements, more script to make it more out going and interesting. It was just to basic. The only thing that really made this film interesting was the ending I would have to say, and how they rounded up the characters. That's it.

So, WHAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE.
If you want to just watch a film for being on, then this is for you. It was painful to see Nick Frost burn in this film and am not talking about the salsa dancing more of the lack of story. It wasn't very appealing, and honestly half way through I wish it just ended, and that guys and gals I rarely say.
TIPS IF YOUR WATCHING THIS FILM?
If you just want to sit down in a cinema or at home and watch something because nothing is on then put Cuban Fury on.
My Ranking
Well, IMDB users rated it a 6.2, I have to be harsh and say a 4 and that's only because of Nick Frost and Ian McShane are in this film.

What's The Bottom Line on Galaxy Quest

Galaxy Quest (1999)

Starring Tim Allen (Santa Clause and Home Improvement), Alan Rickman (Harry Potter and the Philosopher Stone and Die Hard), Sigourney Weaver (Aliens and Avatar) Tony Shalhoub (Spy Kids and Monk) Sam Rockwell (Iron Man 2 and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy) and Daryl Mitchell (10 Things I Hate About You and Inside Man)

First Impressions Before Seeing The Film
From what I remember, because this came out in 99' I was about 7 at the time. I think this went straight to video here and I went to blockbusters or jumping jack flash and rented it out for like 2 pounds. It just looked awesome and at the time I watched a lot of Home Improvement with Tim Allen in. I have always been a Tim Allen fan so I thought this be awesome.

During and After I Watched Galaxy Quest?
Does Star Trek know? Basically, it's a huge comedy about how these actors play a television show about being in space, fighting bad guys and generally saving the day. But, these aliens believe it to be real. And, that's where the fun begins! It's the a very cheesey, funny, very comical performances by all of the cast. It's I think serious twice in the whole film. Alan Rickman plays an amazing character in this. But, honestly if you do or don't like sci-fi's this film just takes the mick of it. But, makes it really funny and actually watch-able. I mean imagine, your acting out Captain Janeway or Captain Jack Sparrow and one day these aliens or pirates need your help and you think it's a joke, but it's real. I mean it's simple but I found it genius.

Is it worth watching?
YES, I mean forget the plot, story for a second below you see three major actors. These actors actually look into what they are doing and if they agree to it. If they found this film that entertaining and brilliant to watch I must think then, they know what they are kinda doing then. I mean the cast alone has been in great films and this was before and after the movie.

So, WHAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE.
This film is utter brilliant, the special effects are from 1999. Near the Matrix era where they really push the boat. But, there's not to much or too little. Tim Allen character even jokes about the spaceship being better then the garage! I mean it's a great comedy a must watch if you are babysitting, with the family and just want to relax. You don't have to think. THAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE, this film you don't have to think.

TIPS IF WATCHING THE FILM?
Try saying like the aliens "NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER"
My Ranking
Well, the users on IMDB rate this film a 7.3 and I rated this film at a solid 10. I like cheesy films it's just something worth watching. I don't want continuous hard messed up films. This is simple and in short terms a must watch sci-fi comedy.

SPOILER CLIP: A SMALL CLIP FROM THE FILM AND QUITE FUNNY I THINK. NOTHING MAJOR. JUST FUNNY

What's The Bottom Line on Orange Is The New Black?

NO SPOILERS OF EPISODES ONLY DESCRIPTION OF MINOR/MAJOR CHARACTERS AND THERE CHARACTER JOB. NOTHING MAJOR FOR THE TV SHOW.

Orange Is The New Black (2013)

Starring Taylor Schilling (The Lucky One) Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek Voyager) Laura Prepon (Karla) Michael Harney (Ocean's Thriteen) and Lorraine Toussaint (Dangerous Minds) only see Lorraine Toussaint in Season 2 and Laverne Cox (Musical Chairs). (Only did these actors because they are my favourite interesting characters in the seasons)

Writers: Piper Kerman (Skavian) and Jenji Kohan (Weeds). I could just do a huge blog on Jenji Kohan but if you look at her history you can clearly see where the humour and the writing came from.

First Impressions Before Seeing The TV Show
Considering, from what I knew you could only watch this on Netflix. So, considering I rarely watch anything on Netflix I asked my friend should I watch Orange is the New Black. And, Shanaynay whom is one of the admins to That's The Bottom Line was like "WATCH IT WATCH IT, YOU MUST WATCH IT! IT'S AWESOME!" So, at first I was just like "Okay crazy". I didn't do any research I went straight in and watched it.

My First Episode....
OMG! AM HOOKED! This is why I love and hate Shanaynay she got me hooked on this thing in literally 4 minutes. I watched both seasons! in two days! that's how awesome and brilliantly written this piece of television. You have so many unique characters, I felt like I was watching Big Brother because your watching this drama slowly unfold and there was sudden bursts of HAHAHA and then suddenly "Oh...my....GOD!" moments literally in seconds!. The actors act there characters beautifully. Taylor Schilling plays Paige whom is the main character who we see unfold about her story not saying anything about why she goes to prison but her life is a drama before jail!. Then, Kate Mulgrew whom is my FAVOURITE I LOVE LOVE her in Star Trek Voyager in this she plays someone called "Red" and... not a spoiler you know straight away she is like the boss of the prison. Laura Prepon plays extraordinary as Alex .... but not saying anything about her character. Michael Harney is like a counsellor/security warden he is one of the ones I had to think....OKAY at first....Lorraine Toussaint character thou Vee (dunno if that's right) BUT I don't wanna say anything about her character but Lorraine Toussaint is a brilliant actor playing Vee. and Laverne Cox who plays Sophia. When I first saw Sophia, this is when I KNEW Orange is the New Black will be a unique television show.

Once I Watched The Two Seasons

If you don't have Netflix, hopefully be on YouTube because this is a TV show to really sink your teeth into. Why? It's a unique television show. We have non-stereotypical lesbians of how television and films portray them. They aren't butch, they are what you expect when you are in the world. You have a male dressed as a female in prison, which is more today's society this TV show is open to new ideas and accepting of change. The comedy is brilliant, I have never laughed so hard at a TV show. The serious parts in the TV show makes my heart stop and wait till it's done then breath because this show really does take you to that edge!. I liked the fact, that with most of the prisoners they did there back story when I saw the first one I was like. Oh, that flowed very very well will it flow like the rest. And, you know what it did! I am not one for TV shows I get bored of them. BUT, two days of my life was spent watching this TV show and GOD DAMN it was worth it! There's nuns, crazy people, police officers, counsellors, russians, lesbians, religious folk, mexicans! I mean, this is what prisoners and social people are! And, that's one reason why I love this TV show because of the mixture of different kinds of people and how they live together in a prison coz they can't just walk through the front door.....maybe climb the wall! Plus, I have to say the opening sequence of all the episodes is so catchy!

Was there too many characters in the TV Show so you lose trail of them?
Strangely enough no! All the characters I believe you see them in most of the episodes. For example, the picture above you see and hear the majority of these people in most of the episodes. Plus, knowing there back stories, there recent events and how they feel. So, I think that's why it's so easy to get into because it's simple and there's always something happening

So, WHAT'S THE BOTTOM LINE.
IMDB rated this 8.5 and I rated 10/10. Here's why.... the comedy, the drama, the unique of all the characters, the storyline they flow and they make you want to watch it more.
TIPS IF YOUR WATCHING THIS TV SHOW?
If something MAJOR has just happened at the end of the episode. Take a breather for 5 to 10 minutes then continue my friend suggested it. I didn't. And, there is a reason for that.
My Ranking
As I said before 10/10, the animal said so.
